She hurried to the pharmacy to pick up the medication. When she got back to the car, she found her keys locked inside. The woman found an old rusty coat hanger on the ground. She looked at it and said, “I don't know how to use this.”
Watering Orchids: When I am at home: (which has been constant, the last 1 1/2 years because of COVID-19) I have watered them every few days with just a small amount of plain water (a Tablespoon amt.). But about every 2-3 weeks I check them all. I empty them always fully - then place 1/4 cup of fertilizer water in them.
The other day I was shopping with a friend of mine. Her daughter loves teddy bears and so that was on the list of things we were looking for. We found several stores that had them at different prices. We were in one store and the price was higher than some of the others.
Philippians 4:19 is a verse that has many layers. “And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Some use this text spiritually with the idea that God has supplied Jesus for our salvation, this is true and he is all we need. However, the verse before speaks of God supplying earthly resources. “I have all I need and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus.” Paul is thanking the Philippians for supplying what he needed for ministry. I want to note a couple of other things about this text. First it says “God will”…that is a done deal. It happens whether we recognize it or not, because God is God. The second is that God supplies from his resources (His glorious riches) and heaven’s resources are unlimited.
February was a month of struggle and pain. I was given the news of my brother’s murder. I have lost a sister to leukemia and a brother to lymphoma. These deaths stung and I grieved but this news was different. A man had taken my brother’s life. I have had sleepless nights trying to understand and reason out this brutal act. Even though I know intellectually sin does not make sense. I still tried to wrestle out some reason for this horrible act.
It was Sabbath morning, and my 13 year old daughter stood staring glumly into the bathroom mirror.
What is your reason for getting up in the morning? Where do your first thoughts turn—even before you open your eyes? Or perhaps, Today’s the day we hear back from the doctor.
