Can I Give What I Love Away?

The other day I was shopping with a friend of mine.  Her daughter loves teddy bears and so that was on the list of things we were looking for.  We found several stores that had them at different prices. We were in one store and the price was higher than some of the others.  There was a young man in front of us holding a big teddy bear that he was going to buy.  We told him that if he went to this other store they were cheaper there.  We told him the price of what they cost there.  He told us oh no!  Actually here, they are cheaper.  While my friend was in line I ran over to find a teddy bear but with no luck.  I went back to the line and said I couldn’t find one so we could just go back to the other store.  The man holding the bear said here you can have mine.  We told him no that was ok, but he pretty much shoved it into our arms and said, no you take it.   We thanked him with a big grin on our face.  That grin didn’t leave for some time.

I got to thinking about it, I love elephants!  I wondered would I have been like the man in the store?  Could I have said here take my elephant?

When the Lord asks for us to give Him our favorite sin can we do it willingly?  Or do we hold on to it extra tight and tell Him no not yet.
