His Angels Guard Us

For He Will Command His Angels to Guard Us in All Our Ways Psalm 91:11, 12

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

On September 11, 1973, when I was 12 years old, I remember being at school when I heard one of my father’s employees coming to pick up my brothers and I to take us home “immediately”! As we got in the back seat of the car, the driver instructed us to sit down on the floor. The reason was so that the grenades and bullets would not get to us as we drove across the city to our home. This day was the beginning of the military dictatorship in Chile that lasted from 1973– 1990. I lived in Chile ten years through war and dictatorship before I left the country in March 1984. It was ten long years of horror and fear that I would lose my family, or I would lose my life. There was so much killing, torturing, and persecution that as a child it was difficult to grasp all that was happening. But there was one thing I could grasp - that the Lord’s angels were at our side protecting us from all the chaos and trauma surrounding us. My parents taught us to pray through Psalm 91 every day - morning and night, and the Lord honored His promises! He kept my family and I safe and provided for all our needs. Many times, He protected us from being kidnapped and tortured by the government military. We always had plenty of food to eat and to share with others in need. Our home was never searched by the military while our neighbors did. The Lord was our constant shield and protector.

We will never know of all the dangers and situations that the Lord Jesus saved us and continues to save us from. I am so thankful for His daily goodness and His mercies upon us.

My dear and loving Abba Father,

I thank you that no matter what crisis or danger may come to my life, You will command Your angels concerning me. You promise that they will guard me in all my ways; They will lift me up in their hands, so that I will not strike my foot against a stone. I feel safe as I dwell in the shelter of your Presence. In Jesus name, amen.
